NRC Racing - Generator Covers - Honda CB1000R (08-09)

With over twenty two years experience in engine cover design and production, NRC chose to cast covers. Here are just a few reasons why:

NRC covers are stronger!
Manufactured under stringent ISO 9002 quality control standards, cast alloy grain flow follows each cover’s particular contour, further aiding to its strength through shape and increased section thickness. "Wrought" (billet) alloy have a linear grain only, and its mechanical properties become unstable in thicker stock, resulting in reduced strength and less resistance to stress cracking.

NRC covers are lighter than billet!
Because each NRC cover is uniquely designed and cast into complex three dimensional shapes, billet covers often weigh more due to their boxier, straight wall finish that is typical of 3 axis CNC machining.

NRC covers cost less!
Cast covers are absolutely the least expensive way to mass produce, and yield the least amount of scrap after finish machining. Billet cover machining requires considerably more time than cast, and the majority of the billet stock goes to scrap. When you consider it takes 8"x8"x3" piece of billet stock, weighing close to 19lbs., to make a typical late model sport bike alternator cover weighing 2 lbs., 17 lbs. of billet material, and the time it took to machine it away, goes to scrap!

NRC has committed hundreds of thousands of dollars in design, patterns, fixtures, tooling and CNC equipment to produce the finest, military-tough, heavy-duty engine covers possible. Our numbers speak for themselves...check out any racetrack and what racers choose to use.

The following features are integral to NRC Racing engine casings.

  • NRC is the world’s largest manufacturer of heavy duty sportbike engine covers
  • Manufactured under stringent ISO 9002 quality control standards.
  • Cast granular alloy flow follows each particular cover’s contour, further adding to its strength through design and increased section thickness.
  • Stronger than wrought (billet) granular alloy and less expensive. "Wrought" (billet) alloy tends to have a linear grain only, and its mechanical properties become unstable in thicker stock, resulting in reduced resistance to stress cracking and corrosion.
  • These covers are hugely popular in the US and Canada and now the most popular covers in the UK.
  • Approved by all U.S. race organizations.
  • All cases are finished in silver grey natural alloy with the NRC logo cast into the cover.
  • Essential for track days and race use, the standard covers just aren’t up to the job.
